best birthday card. ever.

the front of the card

My sister, Andrea, has a knack for picking out the best cards to suit any occasion.  As I look around my apartment, I count no less than 4 cards hung up or propped in corners that are from Andrea, sent to me over the years.  They all make me smile and most still make me laugh out loud.

This year, she outdid herself.  The card she sent me on my birthday (along with an album by John Hermanson…er, I mean, The Hopefuls, and a 2-disc Bowie mix) had me gasping for breath as I laughed and laughed and laughed some more.

I don’t think you have to be from the 80s to appreciate this picture. Even though today’s teens and pre-teens tend to look more cleaned up, more together, I just remember that they, in some way, shape, or form, still feel how this girl looks.

Here is a short list of things i love from my visit to MN:

  • on-time flights to and from mn
  • greeting of family on Christmas morning with Yay!” and hugs and kisses
  • greeting Mason by finding him under couch cushion and then chasing him
  • hearing Sadie say my name “LorLah.”
  • hearing that Mason believes Neville (a train from children’s show, “Thomas”) is the one who brought him his Christmas presents
  • seeing both Sadie and Mason dressing up in princess dresses and jumping on a trampoline
  • time with mom, dad, andrea, sara, lars, mason, sadie, (mark & nina, too)
